About

Founded in 1968, California Ballet School operates its Point Loma San Diego branch from Building 176 of the Dorothea Laub Dance Place in Liberty Station, where the studio runs under the Dance Connection name. Faculty teach the same syllabus used at the school's Kearny Mesa headquarters, feeding advanced students into the repertoire staged by San Diego Ballet and the other companies housed in the Arts District Liberty Station. The branch covers classical ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, and contemporary across children's, adult, and career-track tiers taught by California Ballet Company faculty. Building 175 holds additional Saturday children's classes across the courtyard from Building 176, consolidating the weekly training schedule into one Liberty Station stop. The alignment and turnout drills that anchor the adult ballet curriculum overlap substantially with the format used at The Bar Method San Diego - Point Loma, giving older beginners a lower-impact way to reinforce technique between studio sessions. Advanced-track students work toward placement with California Ballet Company, which has trained dancers who joined programs across Europe, Latin America, and Asia since the company's 1968 San Diego founding.
