About

Since its 1975 charter, the ASLA San Diego Chapter in Point Loma has anchored the region's landscape-architecture practitioner network from its Rosecrans Street office near the Sunset Cliffs corridor. Chapter programming connects licensed designers with continuing-education credits and peer-reviewed design competitions, the kind of industry benchmarking that shapes project work at member firms like Cleator Landscape Design San Diego. Advocacy campaigns address stormwater-management policy, drought-tolerant planting codes, and public-space design standards across San Diego County's coastal and inland zones. Annual events include Park(ing) Day parklet installations and the ASLA Design Awards, which recognize sustainable-design and hardscape innovation across the region. The chapter's next-generation committee partners with ACE Mentor Program school sites and coordinates with firms such as Environs on community garden and green-infrastructure demonstration projects. The highest-impact initiative is the public-space advocacy program, guiding municipal streetscape and greenway projects that convert underused right-of-way into activated pedestrian landscapes.
