About

California charter 0623 since September 2004, High Tech High International runs its Point Loma campus from a converted Naval Training Center foundry at 2855 Farragut Road inside Liberty Station. The 9-12 public charter enrolls about 390 students through a ZIP-code-based lottery, pulling from the same neighborhood pool as the elementary-school companion High Tech Elementary one building over in the Liberty Station campus cluster. Project-based learning runs textbook-free, with students completing internship-linked projects, defending them in formal Presentations of Learning, and tracking progress through digital portfolios rather than AP coursework. Curriculum is globally framed — seminars on international policy, language work, and cross-cultural studies distinguish the International campus from the other Liberty Station HTH schools. External college-counseling support is common for seniors applying to selective four-year universities, and College Smart Advising is one consultancy that HTH families in Point Loma work with on essay, list-building, and test-strategy planning. The most intensive engagement is the senior-year thesis-plus-externship combination, pairing a semester-long field placement with a defended project presentation before the outside panel required for graduation.
