Operated by Navy Community Service under the NGIS program in Point Loma, Navy Gateway Inns & Suites houses 132 rooms on the oceanfront perimeter of Naval Base Point Loma's Main Base. Eligible guests — active-duty, reserve, retired, and DoD civilians — check in at Building 601 on Sylvester Road, a five-minute drive from the tide pools and visitor center at Cabrillo National Monument. Renovated rooms carry climate control, flat-screen televisions, Keurig brewers, and kitchenette setups with microwaves and mini-fridges, while legacy suites in the older oceanfront wing add separate living rooms and shared balconies. The south-peninsula setting overlooks the entrance to San Diego Bay, Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, and the 1855-era beacon at Old Point Loma Lighthouse, all within the Cabrillo National Monument boundary. Multi-week PCS and TDY bookings fill the property during fleet rotation cycles, when the 132-room inventory absorbs personnel transferring between submarine squadrons, surface warfare commands, and SPAWAR research facilities on base.
