La Perla #3

About

Founded by the Rodriguez-Ocampo family in 2011, La Perla #3 in Point Loma, San Diego earned national recognition when a major food publication named its burritos among America’s 35 best and Netflix featured the family’s recipes in Taco Chronicles. The signature Oaxacalifornia burrito — grilled carne asada, Oaxaca cheese, and crispy fries wrapped in a made-to-order flour tortilla — anchors a counter-serve lineup on the same Sunset Cliffs-side Rosecrans corridor as Roberto’s Taco Shop. Beer-battered fish tacos, carnitas tortas on toasted bolillo, and steak chimichangas fill out a board menu that skips printed menus entirely, ordering everything through a wall-mounted list behind the register. A 96-out-of-100 county health score backs a from-scratch kitchen turning out handmade tortillas, salsas, and guacamole — a prep depth the Rosecrans corridor also sees at Cocina De Barrio - Point Loma. The family still operates sister locations in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach, but the Point Loma kitchen handles the most complex catering builds: mole enchilada trays, seafood cocktail platters, and multi-protein taco bars for private events.
