About

Originally opened on May 27, 1955 as a nine-hole layout, Mission Bay Golf Course and Practice Center at 2702 N Mission Bay Dr in San Diego, CA 92109 has grown into an 18-hole, par-58 executive course spanning 46 acres. The course was designed by Ted Robinson Sr., former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and measures 2,719 yards with four par-four holes and fourteen par-three holes. It is the only golf course in San Diego with night lighting, making late rounds possible well after sunset. The facility is operated by the City of San Diego Department of Parks & Recreation and serves as the home course for Mission Bay High School's golf team, with roughly 20 high school teams using the grounds for practice and competition each year. Notably, a young Tiger Woods won a Junior World title here, adding a piece of trivia that locals love to share. Costa Brava on Cass Street is one of the closest dining options to the course and a regular post-round stop for players in the area. Golfers warming up before a round can take advantage of the driving range, practice putting greens, sand traps, and chipping greens, while the Lion Golf Academy provides group and individual instruction on site. Tee times are available online through the city's booking portal, with the first tee time at 6:45 a.m. and the last nine-hole tee time at 8:00 p.m. Green fees are discounted for San Diego residents and junior golfers who hold a city Golf I.D. card. Craft beer fans finishing a round often head to Pacific Beach AleHouse on Garnet Avenue to compare scorecards. A course restaurant has been attempted several times over the decades but has never sustained operations, so most players grab food at one of Pacific Beach's many nearby eateries.
