Dedicated in 1952, Santa Clara Point has served the Mission Beach community as a waterfront recreation center at 1008 Santa Clara Pl in San Diego's 92109 zip code for more than seven decades. The City of San Diego Parks & Recreation Department operates the facility, which includes a lighted softball field, two half-court basketball courts, a tennis court, a multi-use athletic field, and one of the oldest weight rooms in the department's system. Two rentable meeting rooms—including the Bayview Room with panoramic bay views—host everything from community meetings to small weddings. A cold drink and oceanfront seating at Coaster Saloon on Mission Boulevard is a short walk from the parking lot and popular with the rec-league crowd. A tiny tot playground and a separate sand playground keep younger visitors occupied, while picnic areas with bay frontage provide space for family gatherings. The adjacent Mission Bay Aquatic Center, operated as a joint venture among several local colleges and nonprofit organizations, offers kayaking, sailing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding, and diving instruction from the point's boat ramp. The Santa Clara/Pacific Beach Community Recreation Group holds public meetings on the third Tuesday of every month, alternating between this center and the Pacific Beach Recreation Center. MTS bus routes 8 and 9 stop nearby, connecting the point to the wider Pacific Beach and Mission Beach neighborhoods. Family pizza night at Filippis Pizza Grotto Pacific Beach is a neighborhood tradition after rec-league softball games. The center is open Monday through Friday with extended hours on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
