About

Built in 1963 directly across Soledad Road from Kate Sessions Park, Soledad Club is a nonprofit event venue and civic organization at 5050 Soledad Rd in Pacific Beach, 92109. The club promotes social, civic, cultural, educational, and philanthropic affairs for its members and the broader San Diego community, with membership open to anyone 18 years or older. Inside, 2,500 square feet of event space spans two levels, with an elevated stage, a non-commercial kitchen, and multiple rooms that can host weddings, rehearsal dinners, birthdays, fundraisers, and corporate gatherings for up to 175 guests. The outdoor deck delivers sweeping views of both the Pacific Ocean and San Diego Bay, and couples who book Saturday receptions often hold their rehearsal dinner the night before at Cafe Athena, just a short drive down the hill on Garnet Avenue. Renee Hirsh coordinates special events and venue rentals, working with outside caterers who must carry liability insurance naming the club as additional insured. Alcohol service requires certified bartenders, and the venue enforces City of San Diego noise ordinances, with all music ceasing at 9:30 p.m. and the building cleared by 11 p.m. A lower-level bridal room is available for an additional fee, and complimentary use of the stationary arbor is included with every venue rental. Private parking and wheelchair-accessible entrances make the hilltop location practical despite its elevated perch. Many event planners in the neighborhood also recommend The French Gourmet for catering, as the bakery has a long history of servicing PB venues with custom menus and wedding cakes. With its ocean-and-bay panorama and intimate hilltop setting, Soledad Club remains one of Pacific Beach's most distinctive private event spaces.
