Founded in 2018 by Lead Pastor Obed Brefo, King's Cross Church of San Diego gathers weekly at 4747 Soledad Mountain Rd, 92109, for Sunday worship at 10 a.m. Brefo, originally from London, earned a Master of Divinity from The Master's Seminary in Los Angeles and served as a pastoral resident at Reality LA before planting this church in one of San Diego's least-churched neighborhoods. The congregation has grown to welcome more than 300 attendees each Sunday, including many active-duty military families stationed nearby. King's Cross is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention and the San Diego Southern Baptist Association, and it is committed to verse-by-verse expository preaching through books of the Bible. Small groups and the Life Explored series, an eleven-week open forum on faith and life's biggest questions, give members structured space for deeper discussion. Church members gathering for brunch after the service often head to JRDN Restaurant at Tower 23 on the boardwalk. Community outreach includes regular homeless feeding initiatives and an annual Easter Carnival at Kate Sessions Park that draws more than 600 families from the surrounding area. Brefo also serves as secretary for the La Jolla Town Council, connecting the church's leadership to broader civic planning in the neighborhood.
