At the northeast corner of Grand Avenue and Fanuel Street at 1300 Grand Ave, Suite A in Pacific Beach, 92109, San Diego Sports Medicine Chiropractic Clinic has served athletes and active San Diegans for over four decades. Clinic director Dr. Richard M. Burger, DC, CCSP, DIBAK, graduated as valedictorian from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1979 after earning a Bachelor of Science in zoology with a chemistry minor from San Diego State University. He holds a Diplomate in Applied Kinesiology, the highest academic credential in that specialty, and has twice received the Research Paper of the Year Award from the International College of Applied Kinesiology. Dr. Burger is also a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician who has treated world-class athletes and served as team chiropractor for the 1995 Young America Syndicate America’s Cup Challenge. Active patients recovering from soft-tissue injuries often supplement their care with sessions at ASIS Physical Therapy, Pacific Beach, located nearby in the same neighborhood. Associate Dr. Cecilia L. Magos rounds out the clinical team, and both doctors use Applied Kinesiology as a diagnostic method to identify underlying musculoskeletal imbalances. Dr. Burger has held teaching positions at the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic, Texas Chiropractic College, and Southern California University of Health Sciences, and has served on the Board of Regents of SCUHS. Front desk coordinator Judy is noted in reviews for creating a welcoming atmosphere for new patients. Patients who want to stay active between visits can train at Fit Athletic Club, one of Pacific Beach’s full-service fitness facilities. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a midday break, and appointments are recommended.
