About

On the quiet North PB corridor of 947 Turquoise St in Pacific Beach (92109), Chocolate Haus is a small-batch chocolate shop and ice cream parlor run by owner Pete. Every truffle, fudge, and confection is handmade in-house using a short ingredient list free of hydrogenated oils, corn syrup, and artificial preservatives. The year-round collection includes a Caramel Bailey's white chocolate ganache, a Coconut Rum Jungle made with authentic twelve-year-aged Zaya rum from Trinidad, a Dark Fudge Truffle finished in rich dark chocolate, and a Cinnamon Bun Truffle blending brown sugar and fresh ground cinnamon into a white chocolate fudge center. The Turquoise Street location sits across from The Bar Key and a few doors down from the bakery and bistro at The French Gourmet, giving the block a concentration of artisan sweets rare for a beach neighborhood. Ice cream is made on-site as well, and regulars point to the key lime flavor with graham cracker crumble as the star of the freezer case. Scoops run around three dollars, and complimentary chocolate-dipped Oreos have been known to appear at the counter. The shop also roasts its own coffee beans, making it one of the rare chocolate destinations in San Diego that handles both cacao and coffee preparation under one roof. Chocolate Haus earned a 97 out of 100 health score and carries a 4.5-star Google rating. Simply Chocolate has listed the shop among the best chocolate destinations in San Diego, and Mediterranean plates at Cafe Athena on the same street pair well with a post-dinner truffle run. Hours are Monday through Saturday from 11 AM, with Friday and Saturday evenings extending to 8 PM, and an eight-piece sampler box is available for visitors who want a curated cross-section of the lineup.
