Cofounded by college students Tim Langdon and Stephanie Garden as a single coffee cart in 2002, Better Buzz Coffee is a coffee shop and breakfast restaurant that has grown from its Pacific Beach roots into a regional powerhouse with dozens of locations across Southern California and beyond. The Pacific Beach West shop at 1186 Garnet Ave in the 92109 features a drive-through lane and both indoor and outdoor seating, opening daily at 5 AM for early risers heading to the surf or the office. Better Buzz is certified by CCOF as an organic coffee roaster and sources Fair Trade and Rainforest Alliance beans, roasting them in small batches at the company's Vista, California, facility and delivering fresh to each store weekly. The signature Best Drink Ever—an Americano blended with proprietary Vanilla Buzz powder—has built a cult following, and the menu extends to handcrafted lattes, cold brews, loose-leaf teas, organic smoothies, acai bowls, avocado toast, and grilled sandwiches like the Turkey Pesto and Bacon Ciabatta.
