About

Founded in 2003 and reopened on St. Patrick's Day 2024 under a new local ownership group with roots in OB's bar scene, The Harp operates a 5,000-square-foot Irish pub on Newport Avenue under a Type 47 full liquor license. One of two Irish pubs in OB alongside Long Story Irish Pub on Voltaire Street, The Harp distinguishes itself through a kitchen serving pub fare from weekend breakfast through late-night service. A dog-friendly back patio with a pool table extends the seating beyond the main bar, where soccer jerseys cover the walls and eight screens carry live matches. Live music programming expanded under the new owners, with one partner bringing music-industry connections from a long-running OB-based reggae-rock band that has booked national touring acts onto the Newport Avenue stage. The post-2024 menu refresh added wings, Irish-pub staples, and brunch service, putting The Harp in the same Newport Avenue food-and-music tier as South Beach Bar & Grille down the avenue. Saturday-night reggae and rock bookings are the marquee draw, with the front-of-house team running shows that fill the main bar and the dog-friendly back patio at once.
