Sub rolls baked in-house from a family recipe and cannoli filled to order anchor Hungry Lu's, a Sicilian-style sandwich and cookie shop on Voltaire St run by the same family since opening. The torpedo special stacks mortadella, cotto, genoa salami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pepperoncini on a fresh roll, putting it in the same East Coast cold-cut category as the Italian work at Poma's Italian Deli across the neighborhood. The pastry case rotates cannoli, macaroons, Mexican wedding cookies, oversized chocolate chip cookies, biscotti, and turtles (called chocolate drops here) baked behind the counter. Personal pizzas and a hot eggplant sub round out the kitchen's menu, complementing the broader Italian dining footprint on this side of OB that includes the slice and pie program at Pizzeria Luigi. Seating is essentially takeout—a counter and a couple of sidewalk tables—because most of the small space is given over to the bakery case and prep kitchen. Catered sub trays, party-size cookie platters, and full-tray tiramisu and other Italian desserts for events are the largest-format orders the kitchen produces for pickup.
