We Be OB built its sandwich-and-smoothie counter around a stated mission — building entrepreneurial opportunities for adults with autism — and runs the kitchen from a Bacon Street roundabout location across from Robb Field on the western edge of OB. The draft program pours Kilowatt Brewing Ocean Beach beer alongside hard seltzer and wine, building a small bar inside what otherwise reads as a daytime cafe near the San Diego River Bikeway entrance to Robb Field. The menu runs hot and cold paninis (the Bacon Street Roundabout, Italian, Portuguese smoked pork sausage), acai bowls, signature smoothies (PBJ with peanut butter and strawberry, Mango Genius), and the panini-weenie hot dog wrapped in panini bread. Cornhole, dart boards, and a dog-friendly side patio with treats from the counter staff give the back yard a hangout footprint that overlaps with the casual neighborhood-cafe model at Sine Wave Cafe. Fundraising events and softball-league catering pull the kitchen into community-event mode regularly, scaling up the sandwich-and-smoothie production for ball-game spreads and mission-aligned employment training that runs alongside the day-to-day counter service.
