About

Founded in 2008 by two Cambodian-refugee brothers who grew up working their parents' OB Donuts shop, OB Noodle House & Sake Bar built its reputation on a slow-cooked pho broth that earned a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives episode on Food Network in August 2013. The OB Special bowl layers brisket, flank, tendon, and rare steak over rice noodles in a house broth concentrate, sitting in the same Vietnamese-noodle tradition that anchors BNA Noodle House a few blocks east. Behind the bar, more than 40 craft taps and house-infused sake share menu space with Korean-style pork belly tacos on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Cable Street kitchen also originated the peanut butter Jameson shot that grew into Skrewball Peanut Butter Whiskey, the family-launched brand acquired by Pernod Ricard in 2024. The 40-tap rotation, paired with house-infused sake flights, puts the Cable Street program among the heaviest craft-beer rooms in the neighborhood — a tier shared with Kilowatt Brewing Ocean Beach's tasting room three blocks west. The most ambitious project in the family's portfolio is the 7,000-square-foot, three-story Holding Company on Newport Avenue, anchored by a rooftop patio overlooking the OB Pier and a live music hall on the second floor.
