Since 1986, San Diego Council On Literacy at 3245 University Ave #301 has coordinated more than 23 affiliated literacy programs across San Diego County as a 501(c)(3) coalition focused on adult, children's, and family reading services. The coalition recruits volunteer tutors, distributes reading materials, and partners with independent booksellers like The Book Catapult to place books in underserved communities. Programs span one-on-one tutoring, group ESL instruction, GED preparation courses, and an eye care fund that addresses the vision barriers preventing low-income adults from reading.
