At 2850 El Cajon Blvd Suite B in North Park, Cafe Madeleine holds certified Illy Artisti del Gusto status — a designation reserved for cafés meeting the Italian roaster's espresso-preparation standards — and has operated this second San Diego location since 2016. The all-day menu of sweet and savory crêpes, French pastries baked on-site, and pressed paninis runs alongside a dessert lineup that complements nearby Secret Sister, building a pâtisserie corridor along the El Cajon Blvd and Utah St intersection. Art nouveau interiors feature a Toulouse-Lautrec-style mural painted by a French artist, crimson sidewalk umbrellas, and café seating modeled after Parisian sidewalk terraces. The original menu was developed in consultation with a former executive sous chef from the Hotel del Coronado, blending classical French technique with San Diego-sourced ingredients — an approach to local-meets-European also practiced by Gelati & Peccati on University Ave. The most elaborate plate is the savory Galette Complète — a buckwheat crêpe folded around ham, Gruyère, and a slow-set egg, finished tableside with herb butter and microgreens.
