The Glampisphere is an outdoor event space built behind the Air Conditioned Lounge at 4673 30th St Patio G in University Heights, San Diego, on the Normal Heights corridor at the 92116 border with North Park. Owner Gary John Collins opened the original Glampisphere in 2018 as a glamping-style outdoor patio behind his cocktail bar — the Air Conditioned Lounge, which has operated on 30th St since 2004. A fire damaged half the patio space, and the rebuild expanded the layout with additional seating, an outdoor sunken living room, wider access to the indoor bar, and increased table separation. The 30th St cocktail corridor that includes Sycamore Den and several other bars within a two-block walk gives event guests post-party options without moving cars. Combined capacity runs 193 guests — 77 in the outdoor Glampisphere and 116 in the Air Conditioned Lounge interior — for a total that handles corporate presentations, birthday parties, wedding receptions, networking mixers, and late-night celebrations. The AV infrastructure sets the venue apart from standard patio rentals: two 4K UHD 55-inch outdoor flat screens, wireless microphones, plug-and-play USB and HDMI inputs, four outdoor speakers tuned for presenter clarity, a QSC amplifier, power outlets at every table, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Two fire pits and a stone waterfall anchor the outdoor layout under sail-shade canopy, creating a production-ready space that competes with hotel banquet rooms at a neighborhood price point. Food service runs through outside caterers, and the corridor's restaurant density provides delivery and drop-off catering within walking distance — full-service kitchens at Zia Gourmet Pizza on Adams Avenue handle group orders for Glampisphere events. Adams Avenue runs one block north, connecting the venue to the annual Adams Avenue Street Fair route and the broader Normal Heights commercial strip. Rentals include a dedicated event manager, and the 21-plus space accommodates daytime corporate bookings between eight in the morning and nine at night on a flexible schedule.
