About

Willowbrook Golf Course in Lakeside has challenged golfers on Riverside Drive since 1955, making it one of East County San Diego's longest-running public layouts. Architect Jack L. Daray Sr., ASGCA, reshaped the flat, tree-lined layout into its current par-36 routing in 1981, and the clubhouse grill serves the same East County golfer base that fuels up at Mary's Donuts & Coffee on Maine Avenue before morning tee times. Two sets of tees allow golfers to play an 18-hole round at 5,926 yards and a slope of 123, with a prominent cypress tree guarding the par-5 fifth hole serving as the course's signature obstacle. The flat, tree-lined fairways make Willowbrook one of East County's most walkable courses, and the surrounding Lakeside commercial district — including Caffeine Queens on Woodside Avenue — keeps golfers in the neighborhood between rounds. At 2,972 yards from the white tees with a rating of 68.5, the nine-hole layout features two par 3s, five par 4s, and two par 5s threaded through mature willow and sycamore stands along the San Diego River corridor.
