Barona Speedway in Lakeside is San Diego County's only high-banked 1/4-mile clay oval, running dirt-track racing programs every other Saturday on Wildcat Canyon Road between mile markers 11.0 and 11.5. The track debuted on April 16, 1994 as a 1/6-mile oval before expanding to its current quarter-mile configuration, a motorsport lineage documented in the local archives at Lakeside Historical Society on Maine Avenue. IMCA-sanctioned classes include Modifieds, Sport Mods, Sport Compacts, Stock Cars, and Hobby Stocks alongside Dwarf Cars, Sprint Cars, Lightning Sprints, Pony Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Mini Dwarfs. The facility shares its Wildcat Canyon site with the Barona 1/8 Mile Drags and a 300-foot sand drag course, creating a three-format motorsport complex roughly 5.8 miles north of Barona Resort & Casino. Race-night regulars heading south on Hwy 67 afterward refuel at Caffeine Queens on Woodside Avenue. Spectators may bring outside food and beverages excluding glass bottles, and overnight RV camping is permitted until noon the following race day.
