About

Saddles in Service in Alpine runs a natural-horsemanship therapy program for veterans, active-duty military, and first responders at its ten-acre ranch off Japatul Highlands Rd. The multi-phase curriculum pairs each participant with a rescued horse and a trained wrangler, building a progressive skill track distinct from the adaptive-riding model used by Partners Therapeutic Horsemanship on El Monte Rd. Founded in 2017 as a 501(c)(3) under EIN 82-2410075, the organization has logged more than 9,200 program sessions and placed 37 adopted rescue horses since its first participant. The ranch sits east of Alpine Blvd in the Japatul Valley corridor, a stretch of rural acreage that also hosts Lions Tigers & Bears, forming an animal-welfare zone recognized in the award-winning documentary Wounded Heroes. Phase progression moves participants from ground-based desensitization exercises through saddled trail rides, culminating in week-long backcountry pack trips at an affiliate ranch in Wyoming.
