Hearts and Hooves Haven is a 501(c)(3) farm-animal sanctuary in the Eucalyptus Hills area of Lakeside, providing lifelong refuge at 10660 Valle Vista Road for horses, ponies, miniature horses, goats, pigs, chickens, roosters, tortoises, and barn cats. The sanctuary's equine residents connect it to Lakeside's broader horse community, including the facilities at Equine Event Services at Dianne Jacob Lakeside Equestrian Park on Moreno Avenue, where adoption showcases and educational demonstrations reach a wider audience. Each rescue enters the sanctuary from documented neglect, abuse, abandonment, or owner-surrender situations, and receives individualized veterinary and nutritional care plans funded entirely through donations and sponsorships. All community programs run at no charge, including guided educational visits for children, therapeutic interaction sessions for veterans, and family-oriented farm days by appointment. The sanctuary's community partnerships extend to Lakeside Community Center on Vine Street, where outreach events introduce the rescue mission to a broader East County audience. Infrastructure on the Valle Vista Road property, from enclosures and fencing to shade structures, was assembled through donated materials and volunteer labor from Lakeside neighbors, local businesses, and corporate sponsors.
