San Diego County Library's Lakeside Branch at 12428 Woodside Avenue is a Zero Net Energy facility where rooftop solar panels fully offset the building's operational power consumption. The approximately 16,000-square-foot structure — three times the footprint of the previous Lakeside branch — shares the Woodside Avenue civic corridor with Lakeside Community Center on Vine Street, together anchoring Lakeside's public-service infrastructure near Lindo Lake County Park. Interior design integrates Lakeside and Lindo Lake theming throughout a dedicated children's area, a teen space with study rooms, and public terminals offering free Wi-Fi and 3D printing. Programs including storytimes, book clubs, the San Diego Fixit Clinic, and the Library High School diploma program serve a Woodside Avenue corridor that includes Ottavio's Italian Restaurant immediately adjacent to the library site. The facility includes 60 oversized parking stalls and two EV charging stations, with the Zero Net Energy certification reflecting San Diego County's investment in a net-zero carbon library model for East County.
