AGC San Diego's East County Headquarters in Lakeside occupies a 43,600-square-foot training facility at 10140 Riverford Road, opened in 2020 and designed by Ware Malcomb Architects. The chapter's state- and federally-approved apprenticeship program trains carpenters, cement masons, heavy equipment operators, and painters who go on to build projects requiring waterproofing scopes handled by roofing trades including RoyalFusion Roof Experts in Alpine. Serving 1,100-plus member firms across San Diego County, the facility provides continuing construction education, OSHA safety certification, labor relations services, and business development resources. Graduates enter the local workforce at firms that subcontract gate and door fabrication to specialists such as Anderson Gates and Garage Doors on Gardena Road. The apprenticeship curriculum spans two to four years of combined on-the-job training and evening classroom instruction covering blueprint reading, material estimation, and California Building Code compliance.
