As a satellite campus of one of San Diego County's largest Baptist congregations, Shadow Mountain Community Church Alpine brings a megachurch teaching program to 3520 Alpine Blvd. The campus runs its own live worship band and children's ministry and its multi-campus retreat schedule includes off-site gatherings at Alpine's Casa de Vida on Peutz Valley Road. The main-campus congregation traces its origins to 1909 and grew under the leadership of author Tim LaHaye from 1956 through 1981, when the current senior pastor launched the internationally syndicated Turning Point radio and television broadcast. Alpine Blvd worshippers receive the same expository sermon series delivered at the El Cajon headquarters, synchronized across all campuses to maintain doctrinal consistency. The campus's outreach into Alpine's aging population includes visitation programs reaching care homes along the Tavern Road corridor, such as Kasitz Kastle Senior Care at 1417 Tavern Road. Affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention through the California Southern Baptist Convention, the Alpine location seats its own campus pastor and operates two identical gathering times each Sunday.
