Vista La Mesa Park is a 2.74-acre neighborhood park on King Street in La Mesa's 91941 ZIP, designated a National Demonstration Site following a renovation that redesigned the space to encourage active family play. The May 2019 playground rebuild, funded by a donation from EDCO's Ed and Sandy Burr, installed a tree-house-themed GameTime play structure alongside an EDCO recycling-truck climber for ages two through five, with educational nature and recycling signage integrated into the play zone — an early-childhood design approach shared by programs at La Mesa United Methodist Children's Center. A poured sidewalk circles the entire park perimeter, creating a walking and jogging loop with exercise equipment stations positioned to give parents sightlines to both the playground and the adjacent ball field. The renovated horseshoe pit, tandem swings, and monkey bars occupy the south side of the park near a new monument entryway, and the drought-tolerant landscaping reflects the same water-conscious plant selection used by La Mesa contractors including Nealon Landscape. Capacity is 250 with BBQ grills, picnic tables, a reroofed restroom building, and a ball field that doubles as a secondary field for Rolando Little League's spring season.
