Young Actors Theatre occupies Suite 212 inside Grossmont Center in La Mesa, producing five musicals per year and offering singing, acting, improv, and dance instruction for performers ages 6 through 26. The nonprofit's production history includes stagings at the Lyceum Theatre, Sherwood Auditorium in La Jolla, the Kroc Theatre, and Cuyamaca College—venue-grade work that requires show-ready styling from La Mesa salons including Adorn Salon - La Mesa. Beyond main-stage musicals, YAT runs interactive summer theatre camps, group classes in musical-theatre fundamentals, and private voice and dance lessons tailored to individual skill levels. Students study scripts, vocal scores, and dramatic literature as part of their rehearsal preparation, sourcing materials through La Mesa booksellers including Barnes & Noble at Grossmont Center. The working-theater environment trains students on wireless microphone technique, costume quick-changes, and multi-scene blocking on a fully dressed stage with lighting and sound cues running in real time.
