Peter Pan Junior Theatre has served the La Mesa–Spring Valley School District since 1970, staging one full-scale musical production per year with casts of 70 to 80 student performers. The nonprofit's production model integrates singing, dance choreography, and dramatic coaching into a single rehearsal cycle, drawing from the same youth performing-arts talent pipeline that feeds enrollment at California Ballet Co & School. Auditions are held at La Mesa Arts Academy on Parks Avenue in the Casa de Oro district and remain available to all students enrolled in the district's elementary and middle schools. Finished productions transfer to the 600-seat Ray and Joan Kroc Salvation Army Performing Arts Center for multi-night public runs, with wardrobe requirements sourced through San Diego County retailers including Burlington at Grossmont Center. Outreach and scholarship programs direct resources toward underrepresented and low-income students, ensuring participation is not limited by a family's ability to cover costume, transportation, or registration costs.
