Boys & Girls Clubs of East County's La Mesa Clubhouse on Junior High Drive is the organization's largest facility, a 26,000-square-foot youth center serving members ages five through eighteen. Named the Brady Family Clubhouse, the building opened in October 2018 adjacent to La Mesa Arts Academy, whose students use the on-site gymnasium for physical education classes during the school day. The Gagon Academy learning center inside the clubhouse provides a dedicated homework room and tutoring space funded by a three-million-dollar gift from the estate of San Diego real estate investors. After-school programming covers athletics, nutrition education, and leadership development — a youth-enrichment pipeline that dovetails with the structured belt-progression training at White Dragon Martial Arts. The facility is one of six operated by BGCEC, a chartered member of Boys & Girls Clubs of America that has served East County communities for over sixty years. The 10,000-square-foot Bill Walton Gymnasium — named for the La Mesa native and NBA Hall of Famer who graduated from nearby Helix High School — hosts basketball and volleyball programs shared with Helix High School varsity teams and AYSO Region 89 youth soccer.
