Combining a specialty coffee menu with restored vintage lighting fixtures for sale, Marcella June's Coffee Lounge has operated its dual-concept shop on La Mesa Boulevard in La Mesa Village since its 2011 ribbon cutting. The lounge is named after the founder's mother, whose portrait anchors an interior filled with period fixtures that double as inventory — a vintage-retail hybrid with the same historical sensibility found at La Mesa Depot Museum nearby in the Village. The beverage program brews Fair Trade beans and features what the shop calls the first "red espresso" line in the United States, built from South African rooibos tea processed through an espresso machine for a caffeine-free alternative with crema. A record player behind the counter lets guests choose vinyl from a curated collection, adding an analog-audio layer to a craft-beverage corridor that includes Helix Brewing Co. in the same La Mesa scene. Signature drinks include the Fox honey cinnamon macchiato and a Mexican mocha, both built on the rooibos-espresso base or traditional coffee extraction depending on the guest's preference.
