About

As a cooperative urban winery venue in La Mesa's industrial district, La Mesa Wine Works hosts production and tasting for two local labels — San Pasqual Winery and Wyatt Oaks — inside a converted sign-manufacturing facility on Center Street. The 1,200-square-foot tasting room pours six to eight varietals from each winery, a flight depth that complements the craft beer lineup at Helix Brewing Co., one of the breweries that followed Wine Works into La Mesa's industrial corridor after the McWilliams family lobbied City Hall to update zoning regulations in 2016. A 2,500-square-foot event space handles weddings, corporate receptions, and retirement parties, with a separate 1,200-square-foot patio extending the venue's capacity for outdoor bookings. Winemaker Linda McWilliams, president of the San Diego County Vintners Association, produces all San Pasqual wines on-site in small batches, sourcing grapes from local San Diego County vineyards and established California viticulture regions — a local-production model that supplies finished bottles to La Mesa Village restaurants like Farmer's Table La Mesa. Annual production of 2,500 cases includes the SummerVine passionfruit line and a habanero-infused "Hot Passion" varietal, alongside traditional grape wines such as a Malbec selected to represent California at competition in Cahors, France.
