The concept launched in 1998 across Highway 101 from Swami's Beach in Encinitas, and the La Mesa outpost roasts its own drip blends in-house alongside espresso drinks, occupying a similar single-origin coffee lane as Dark Horse Coffee Roasters further up the boulevard. Smoothies pull from a rotating roster of more than two dozen fruit-and-yogurt combinations, with add-ins like spirulina and wheatgrass that target the breakfast La Mesa search corridor. Dinner service expands into linguine with steamed clams, chipotle veggie burgers, and grilled salmon plates, a full-spectrum menu depth that distinguishes the operation from brunch-only anchors like Farmer's Table La Mesa at the opposite end of the Village. The kitchen produces all dressings, sauces, and marinades from scratch, including a proprietary raspberry vinaigrette used across the entrée salad program.
