Full-service community fitness center at 8355 Cliffridge Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037, south of UC San Diego. Founded in 1964, the Dan McKinney Family YMCA completed a $21 million renovation and expansion starting in 2015 and now serves over 4,000 active members and 7,000 youth program participants annually. The Cliffridge Avenue address places it near Cliffridge Park, giving families a playground-and-pool combo within the same block. Facilities include two heated outdoor pools, a sauna, steam room, splash pad, a full-size indoor gymnasium, cardio and circuit training equipment, free weights, group exercise studios, and a USA Gymnastics-affiliated gymnastics center. Child Watch is available for ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Group fitness classes are included with membership, and joining any YMCA location grants access to all San Diego County branches. Also operates the satellite Shepherd YMCA Firehouse on Herschel Avenue in the Village. Financial assistance available.
