Urban winery tasting room at 5621 La Jolla Blvd in Bird Rock, La Jolla 92037, founded in 2015 by Lowell and Anne Jooste — a South African family with four generations of winemaking behind them. The concept is one of a kind: small-batch wines crafted in Napa Valley and Sonoma are shipped in full barrels to La Jolla, then served directly from the barrel using Lowell's patented Wine Steward device, and the Bird Rock address puts it on the same Boulevard as Bird Rock Fine Wine, giving this corridor two of La Jolla's most serious wine destinations. Varieties include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rosé — poured by the glass or filled into reusable growlers. Cheese boards, charcuterie, and seasonal small plates accompany the tastings.
