LGBTQ-owned yoga studio Yoga Deck runs a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program alongside its regular class calendar from an indoor-outdoor Bankers Hill space on 4th Avenue. The YTT curriculum pulls together asana, alignment, sequencing, yoga philosophy and history, anatomy and physiology, subtle-body and nervous-system work, teaching skills, and ethics — a somatic and nervous-system focus that overlaps with the awareness-through-movement lessons taught at Feldenkrais San Diego. The regular drop-in schedule covers Vinyasa, Yin, Qigong, and trauma-informed workshops, with an open-air deck design that lets classes run semi-outdoors in San Diego's temperate climate. Restorative and Yin classes pair breath work with parasympathetic nervous-system down-regulation — the same energetic territory addressed through needle-based treatment at Vanessa Mergulhão Acupuncture in nearby Mission Hills. The most demanding commitment the studio offers is the Spring 200-Hour YTT cohort — a multi-month training combining Saturday and Sunday in-studio blocks, Zoom sessions, an opening ceremony, and a graduation weekend for students preparing to teach.
