Part of the UC San Diego Health system ranked No. 7 nationally for obstetrics and gynecology by US News & World Report, the Hillcrest OB/GYN clinic at 4168 Front Street delivers prenatal and gynecologic care from the second floor of the Hillcrest Medical Center campus. Board-certified obstetricians and maternal-fetal medicine perinatologists share the practice with one of the first academic nurse-midwifery programs in the country, and postpartum pelvic floor rehabilitation is scheduled through Mission Valley Rehabilitation Center when indicated. High-risk pregnancy management covers placenta accreta spectrum, gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, Rh isoimmunization, thrombophilia, and fetal anomalies detected through the regional prenatal diagnosis program. Deliveries are supported by a Level II Intermediate NICU at Hillcrest Medical Center and a Level III NICU at Jacobs Medical Center in La Jolla for advanced neonatology needs. Gastrointestinal complications of pregnancy including refractory hyperemesis gravidarum and inflammatory bowel disease flares are co-managed with Dr. Andrew Cummins for endoscopic evaluation and medical optimization. The most involved caseload handles referred placenta accreta and vasa previa cases that require multidisciplinary delivery planning across obstetrics, maternal-fetal medicine, interventional radiology, urology, and blood banking.
