Founded in 1947 by orthopaedic surgeon Frank West as the oldest orthopaedic medical practice in San Diego County, San Diego Orthopaedic Associates Medical Group operates from the 7th floor at 4060 Fourth Avenue with board-certified, fellowship-trained surgeons across every anatomic subspecialty. The physicians have served as team orthopaedists for San Diego State University Aztecs athletics since 1998, and post-operative rehabilitation for sports and joint replacement cases is routinely scheduled with Spine & Sport Physical Therapy on Fifth Avenue. Subspecialty coverage spans reconstructive spine surgery, shoulder and sports medicine, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, adult hip and knee reconstruction, minimally invasive joint replacement, and interventional pain management. Occupational injury care follows ACOEM evidence-based guidelines, with workers' compensation cases cross-referred through Concentra Urgent Care for initial triage and return-to-work coordination. The most complex caseload involves revision total joint arthroplasty, multi-level spine reconstruction with instrumentation, and limb salvage after traumatic or oncologic resection.
