About

Established in 2005 as the regional physician training center for nonsurgical cosmetic medicine in San Diego, the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine operates from the Goldfinch Street campus in Mission Hills. The curriculum covers injectable techniques for neuromodulators, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, chemical peels, and laser/IPL physics, with hands-on instruction structured around the same procedures performed in clinical dermatology offices such as MedDerm Dermatology. Classes stay deliberately small so each physician, nurse practitioner, PA, or RN trainee gets direct injection time on live models rather than mannequins. Coursework includes pharmacology, skin and muscle anatomy, and laser/light physics taught by American-trained physician instructors who also practice clinically. Trainees complete the certification track alongside the cosmetic dermatology peer cohort that includes practices such as Seaver L. Soon, MD; The Skin Clinic MD, then earn lifetime continuing-support membership through ABAM’s regional centers in San Diego, Verona, Bangkok, and Dubai. The most advanced track is the international fellowship in aesthetic medicine, which carries trainees through dermal filler complication management, vascular occlusion reversal protocols, and full-face injectable treatment planning.
