insideOUT at 1642 University Ave is Hillcrest's only LGBTQ+-owned and Latinx-owned California-Mediterranean restaurant, serving from the ground-floor atrium of the Eitol Towers since April 2018. The seasonally rotating California-Mediterranean menu sources locally grown produce and pairs each plate with a natural wine selection curated alongside the bottle program at Cork & Stem on the same University Ave block. An outdoor atrium with switchback walkways, seating nooks, and a cascading water feature creates the venue's signature indoor-outdoor flow across multiple terraced levels. A full mezcal and cocktail bar complements the food menu with agave-forward drinks and seasonal craft cocktails, building a beverage program that shares Hillcrest's University Ave corridor with Extraordinary Desserts's patisserie. The 18-and-over venue manages full private event buyouts with seasonal themed decor installations that transform the entire atrium multiple times per year.
