Women-owned since 1999, Eli Howard Surf School holds group and private sessions at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas with a maximum 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio in every group lesson. Every session includes a surfboard and full wetsuit sized on-site, making the school a natural pairing with surf-focused lodging like Surfhouse along Coast Highway 101. Summer and spring-break surf camps run week-long programs for children ages six and older, progressing from beach safety and paddling technique through standing rides on green-face waves. The founding instructors trained as Class IV and V whitewater river guides before transitioning to ocean instruction, bringing swift-water rescue competency and open-water risk assessment to every session at Moonlight State Beach.
