Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego operates its Griset Clubhouse at 1221 Encinitas Boulevard, serving Encinitas youth ages five through sixteen with after-school and summer-camp programming. The facility includes a tech lab, ceramics studio, commercial-grade kitchen, full gymnasium, library, and a half-acre vegetable garden, providing a youth-development campus that complements the aquatic and fitness programming at Magdalena Ecke Family YMCA on Saxony Road. A $175,000 Unity Fund Grant supports food-security initiatives delivering thousands of fresh meals annually to youth experiencing hunger at the Griset and Solana Beach clubhouses. The Big 8 Middle School Sports program fields competitive teams in basketball, volleyball, golf, and flag football for seventh- and eighth-graders from Carlsbad through Carmel Valley, with practices held at the Griset gymnasium and game-day matchups at Ecke Sports Park. The clubhouse's commercial kitchen supports USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program compliance, and perimeter surveillance cameras operate under a security system funded in part by the City of Encinitas and the Mizel Family Foundation Community Grant Program.
