Established in 1968 when the Encinitas and Cardiff Methodist congregations merged, San Dieguito United Methodist Church in Encinitas occupies a multi-building campus on Calle Magdalena with a reported attendance of over 400. The church's preschool ministry has operated continuously since 1980, providing early childhood education in the same developmental corridor where Nest Pediatric Therapy delivers speech, occupational, and behavioral support for Encinitas-area children. Methodist roots in the San Dieguito area trace to 1887, making the merged congregation one of the longest-running Protestant worship communities in coastal North County. Multi-format worship includes a traditional service featuring a concert-caliber chancel choir with organ accompaniment and a contemporary gathering called The Garden with a live band, while campus-wide events rely on local catering partnerships such as Käk Catering for congregation-scale meal service. The music ministry stages seasonal concerts combining the chancel choir, a bell choir ensemble, and guest instrumentalists in a sanctuary acoustically configured for choral performance and pipe-organ repertoire.
