About

Friends of the Encinitas Library Bookstore is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit book shop on Cornish Drive near Encinitas Community Park, operating since the organization's founding in 1980 to fund library programming across the 92024 corridor. Proceeds from donated books, DVDs, and CDs support collection development, STEM outreach, and cultural events at the Encinitas Library, reinforcing a used-book ecosystem that includes Artifact Books along the coast. Since the current library building opened in 2008, the Friends chapter has directed more than $135,000 annually into operations, including a $30,000 investment in an automated materials-handling system installed in 2013. Rotating donor inventory spans fiction, nonfiction, biography, and children's genres alongside a curated special-collection shelf, building out a community-arts corridor shared with Off Track Gallery in the same civic campus. The organization's sponsorship portfolio extends to First Sunday Concert Series production, author-event programming, and Dia de los Muertos installations that collectively serve the library's 40-plus monthly programs.
