About

ArtsTix in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter operates the region's only nonprofit ticket vendor from its booth at Horton Plaza Park, directly across from the U.S. Grant Hotel on Fourth Avenue. The ticket center sells full-price and half-price seats for theater, dance, music, and comedy productions across San Diego County, with more than 95 percent of each purchase flowing back to the producing organization, a consignment model that fills otherwise-empty seats at venues including the Balboa Theatre on E Street. ArtsTix is a program of the San Diego Performing Arts League, a nonprofit arts-service organization that has supported the county's performing-arts ecosystem since 1983 through marketing resources, practitioner-development workshops, and the annual Star Awards honoring outstanding volunteers. Beyond performing arts, the booth sells Balboa Park Explorer passes, harbor cruises, trolley tours, and attraction tickets for the San Diego Zoo, USS Midway Museum, and SeaWorld, doubling as a tourist information center for visitors entering the Gaslamp Quarter—the same cultural corridor where San Diego Civic Theatre anchors the city's Broadway-touring-production schedule. The highest-volume periods are San Diego Theatre Month each March, when the league coordinates $15, $30, and $45 ticket tiers across participating venues countywide.
