About

San Diego High School in downtown San Diego has anchored the southern edge of Balboa Park since its founding in 1882 as the city's oldest public high school. Its drama, choir, and concert band programs connect students to the park's performing-arts corridor, where campus talent overlaps with San Diego Junior Theatre's youth productions at Casa del Prado. As an authorized IB World School, the campus delivers the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme across standard and higher-level tracks. Three California Partnership Academies—Finance, GeoTech, and MedTech—pair classroom instruction with mentorship rotations, internship placements, and field-based projects on the same Park Boulevard corridor as San Diego City College. The IB capstone sequence, including the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge assessment, positions graduates for admission to UC, Cal State, and private research universities.
