Sogno Di Vino in downtown San Diego's Little Italy became the neighborhood's first dedicated wine bar when it opened at 1607 India Street in September 2005, conceived by co-owner Daniela Caniglia. The curated list features small-production wines hand-chosen from Italian, California, and global wineries at multiple price points, a boutique-sourcing philosophy shared by Vino Carta Wine Shop and Bar further south on India Street. A Southern Italian kitchen backs the wine program with cold plates, focaccia di Recco with honeycomb, panini, and full pasta entrees including gnocchi and risotto. The same ownership group behind Caniglia and partner Antonino Mastellone operates Buon Appetito Restaurant next door and Trattoria I Trulli in Encinitas, sharing supplier relationships and Italian-import sourcing across all three concepts. Late-evening bar service with reduced-price pours and small-plate specials anchors the after-dinner segment of India Street's Italian dining corridor.
