Palihotel San Diego in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter reimagines the 1912 Hotel St. James, a Victorian-style building on Sixth Avenue, into 122 nautical-themed guest rooms managed by the Los Angeles-based Palisociety group. Saint James French Diner operates just off the lobby as an all-day dining room blending American diner service with French bistro technique, running a different culinary format than the coastal seafood program at Lionfish Modern Coastal Cuisine two blocks south on Fifth Avenue. Each room preserves the building's Victorian-era window proportions and marble staircase while fitting Bellino Fine Linens, Diptyque bath amenities, SMEG mini-fridges, and Nespresso machines into the bespoke furniture layout. A guest-exclusive roof deck hosts a recurring social hour above the Gaslamp Quarter skyline, offering a private rooftop alternative to the street-level arcade bar format at Coin-Op Game Room a few blocks north. King Suites expand to separate living areas with full skyline views, scaling the 1912 floor plan to accommodate multi-night stays during San Diego Convention Center events.
