About

Hotel Z in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter operates a 96-room Staypineapple boutique property at 521 Sixth Avenue, converted in 2015 from a former 221-unit residential building by J Street Hospitality. The conversion replaced all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across four floors, and the pineapple-branded rooms now include Euro-style duvets, PATH reusable water bottles, and in-room coffee and tea alongside the Gaslamp's rooftop dining scene at places like Rustic Root on Fifth Avenue. Complimentary beach cruiser bicycles let guests ride the Embarcadero waterfront trail to Seaport Village and back, and the property accepts dogs in all room types with no breed restrictions. Self-check-in and an afternoon cookie-and-coffee program round out the amenity package on the same Sixth Avenue stretch that connects to Gaslamp wellness services at Bangkok Day Spa near Market Street. The largest suite configurations include separate living areas with sofa beds for convention groups and bachelor-party bookings near Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center.
