Bonjour Patisserie in downtown San Diego's Little Italy is a French bakery founded in 2020 by Chef Romain Morès, a Bordeaux native who trained as a pastry apprentice in France before launching the concept at San Diego farmers' markets and opening a brick-and-mortar at 320 West Cedar Street in the Continental Lofts building. The laminated-dough program produces almond croissants, pistachio coin croissants, tiramisu croissants, and orange blossom crème-filled croissants alongside savory ham-and-cheese versions and baguette sandwiches — a French viennoiserie tradition that complements the sourdough-and-rye bread production at Knead Artisan Bakery in the same neighborhood. Latino-owned and still maintaining a presence at the Little Italy and Hillcrest farmers' markets, the patisserie also operates a commercial kitchen on Alvarado Canyon Road for wholesale production. Individual desserts — macarons, raspberry tarts, flan Parisien, French strawberry cake — fill the pastry case alongside the croissant lineup. Gluten-free and vegan versions of many items expand the menu beyond traditional French formulas, and the espresso program pairs well with the pastry selection in a way that parallels the coffee-and-cornetto pairing tradition at Caffe Italia on the same Little Italy corridor. Wedding cake commissions and large-format event orders build custom French dessert spreads from the commercial kitchen for receptions, corporate events, and catered brunches.
